The Local Disaster Management Plan (LDMP) will be an important tool for managing potential disasters and a demonstrated commitment towards safety within the community.

The LDMP is an overarching document that details the structure, management arrangements and governance provisions that underpin the process of disaster management in the TRC area. It provides an overview of the arrangements for dealing with disasters and sets out the role of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and the community from the initial notification through the various stages of response and recovery to when the disaster is finalised. The LDMP is designed to be flexible so it can be adapted to any disaster to ensure an integrated, coordinated and timely response.

The Disaster Management Act 2003 (‘Act’) and the Disaster Management Regulation 2014 (‘Regulation’) form the legislative basis for disaster management within all levels of government and Queensland's Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA).

The preparation of this LDMP and associated sub-plans has been undertaken in accordance with sections 57 and 58 of the Act, to provide for effective disaster management in the TRC area. This LDMP is consistent with Queensland’s Disaster Management Standard and PPRR Disaster Management Guideline.
