Toowoomba Region Sports Precinct

The creative talents of Darling Downs and South West Queensland secondary school students feature in Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s annual Creative Generation – Excellence Awards in Visual Art 2025 exhibition that is on display until November 16, 2025.

The program has been running since 1990 and highlights artwork by senior visual art students from Queensland state and non-state schools.

This regional exhibition displays 31 artworks by senior high school visual art students representing 13 schools across the Darling Downs and South West Queensland.

From the 31 submissions, the following awards were announced: One Regional Encouragement Award, eight commendations and two excellence winners.

Commendation recipients: Ian Saltner (Murgon State High School), Ava Cassidy (Toowoomba State High School), Zac Shersby (Toowoomba State High School), Djinni Dalton (Harristown Slate High School), Bella Lampe (Toowoomba Christian College - Highfields), Indianna Hitchcock (FairhoIme College - Toowoomba), Lilianah Brownhall (Downlands College - Toowoomba), Tariah Nicol (Toowoomba Christian College - Highfields).

Excellence award recipients: Imogen Higgs (Goondiwindi State High School), Bron Francis (FairhoIme College - Toowoomba).

Regional Encouragement recipient: Amelia Bryant-Peterson (FairhoIme College - Toowoomba).

Excellence winners from across Queensland will be exhibited at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) from March 28 to September 13, 2026.

Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery at 531 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba, is open Wednesday to Sunday 10.30am – 3.30pm. Entry is free.
