Members of the Darling Downs Textile Art Group (DDTAG) will explore new shapes and forms in their exhibition Beyond Bounds that will be displayed at Rosalie Gallery from September 20 to October 15, 2023.
Beyond Bounds is the result of conversations, collaboration and mentoring within the Darling Downs Textile Art Group.
The works seamlessly incorporate traditional textile approaches, while exploring new possibilities and unexpected outcomes.
Each artist has developed ways to turn soft-yielding textiles into free-standing art, telling stories about what they value, and their unbounded love of textiles.
Established in 1999, the DDTAG is a gathering of emerging and established textile artists.
Group members are drawn from varied disciplines and started their textile journey in patchwork, embroidery, dressmaking, bookbinding or other art media.
DDTAG is dedicated to expanding members’ textile and fibre arts practices.
They explore contemporary textile expression by experimenting, workshopping and exhibiting in art galleries and public venues.
The exhibition’s Meet the Artists Day is on Saturday, September 23 from 10.30am to 3.30pm. This is a free event and no bookings are required.
