Toowoomba landscape artist Rob Raymond will soon unveil a new body of work, Views from my Studio, at the Rosalie Art Gallery in Goombungee.

The exhibition will be on display from May 3 to 28, 2023.

The works in Views from my Studio examine much-loved and well-known Toowoomba and Darling Downs landscapes through drawing and painting.

Rather than aiming for photographic realism, this is an emotional response to the light and structure of our unique local flora.

“All the works are completed in my studio and taken from drawings based on the escarpment around Silver Ridge and Middle Ridge, as seen from the studio,” Rob said.

“Through the process of painting, I hope to offer the viewer new insights into familiar surrounds.

“These works are intimate representations of my immersion in the landscape and its understorey.”

The exhibition is a continuation of a lifetime of work that has examined areas around Toowoomba, the Darling Downs and the Granite Belt.
