Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is in the early stages of investigating options to provide an additional active transport route in line with the Downs South West Principal Cycle Network Plan.

This corridor will provide an active transport connection from Glenvale to the Toowoomba CBD. Helping to meet TRC’s vision for a sustainable and integrated transport system that supports liveable communities.

Several route's have been shortlisted in consultation with TRC’s Regional Active and Public Transport Advisory Group and Regional Access and Disability Advisory Group, as well as local cycling and walking groups. 

TRC Infrastructure Committee Portfolio Lead Councillor Melissa Taylor said the community was now invited to have their say on the design.

“We’re engaging with the community from the start of the project, to make sure the design meets the needs of our residents now and into the future.

“There are a number of different route options to consider and we’re seeking feedback from the community to help us make an informed decision on a preferred route.”

“There are so many benefits of investing in safe, connected and well-planned infrastructure for active transport.

“Choosing cycling or walking over private motor vehicle use is a great way to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle," Cr Taylor said. 

The corridor will connect the planned Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Karrool Street project to the existing West Creek corridor, which links to Toowoomba’s CBD.

This project is jointly funded by TRC and the Palaszczuk Government through TMR’s Cycle Network Local Government Grants program.
