Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery at 531 Ruthven Street is hosting various workshops in January 2023.
Basket Weaving Workshop with Aunty Barbara Walker, Wednesday, January 11 from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Barbara Walker is a proud Wiradjuri woman from Wagga Wagga, NSW, who practises and teaches traditional coiling weaving [Wadya waybarra]. Being able to share weaving techniques, for many different applications, with all who are wanting to learn, brings her satisfaction.

Masarap Multimedia Workshop with Ben Tupas, Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The word Masarap means ‘Delicious’ in the Filipino language. Join Filipino-Australian artist Ben Tupas to explore storytelling through food.
Workshop participants will explore the ingredients relating to the famous Filipino dish, Chicken Adobo, and hear the personal story behind Ben’s artwork Masarap 2022.
Participants will then make art inspired by their family recipes, record their story or create a digital photographic work that incorporates the story behind the food. At the end of the workshop, participants will sample Chicken Adobo from a local restaurant.

The two workshops above are suitable for ages nine to 12.
Line, colour and representation – Tinker, Sunday, January 15 from 11am to noon and 1.30 to 2.30pm.
Join Toowoomba artist Alex Stalling from Tinker to make a fun, original artwork using drawing, watercolour and collage, pictured.
The two sessions are suitable for five to eight-year-olds.

All workshop materials are supplied and the cost is $11 per participant.
Places are limited and bookings are essential.

Drumming - Generation Pound (suitable six-12 years)
Using Ripstix (lightly weighted drumsticks, provided), Generation Pound fuses movement and music to improve focus, coordination and physical fitness skills. Kids will learn alternative ways to explore movement, embrace their creativity and build strength, confidence and self-awareness. Bookings essential.

Busy Bee & Seed Bomb Workshop

January school holiday intensive water safety, learn to swim and stroke advancement.
The school holiday program is open to new and existing clients. Intensive classes run for 30min with the same instructor for five consecutive days. This is a great way to have fun and fast-track your child’s swimming abilities during the January school holidays.
