The creative talents of Darling Downs and South West Queensland secondary school students will feature in Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s (TRAG) annual Creative Generation – Excellence Awards in visual Art 2022 exhibition from November 5 to December 4, 2022.
The exhibition has been a feature on the Gallery’s calendar since 1990 and highlights artwork by senior visual art students from Queensland state and non-state schools.
Creative Generation - Excellence Awards in Visual Art 2022 coordinator Edward Lucas, (Teacher - The Arts at Toowoomba Christian College), said the program was an amazing opportunity for secondary students to showcase their artworks for the world to see.
“Our Region’s secondary Visual Art students are so talented and spend considerable time and effort to complete quality artworks that are worthy for the world stage,” Edward said.
“The program also inspires younger generations to recognise their potential in the creative sector.
“The program was available when I was an art student and I remember feeling a sense of wonder every time I saw the central exhibition as a teenager.
“Now as a Secondary Visual Art teacher, it is always an exciting occasion endorsing the program to my own students and encouraging them to be brave by submitting their own artworks to the program.
“Working with TRAG has been a wonderful experience. The team is exceptional and highly experienced in curating. Every year we see a diverse range of works in all shapes and sizes, mediums, and styles.
“To display a large collection of pieces that don't connect with each other can be very challenging. Nevertheless, the team always produces an outstanding display that flows and appeals to all audiences.”
The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art would like to thank QAGOMA for their ongoing support.
