Applications are closing soon for Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) next round of Youth grants.
TRC Environment and Community Services Committee chair Cr James O’Shea said grants of up to $2,500 were available.
“The Youth grant program aims to increase young people’s engagement with their communities, targeting those in the 12–25 age bracket,” Cr O’Shea said.
“Council recognises the importance of supporting our youth, which is why we’ve introduced these funds.
“We already have a community grant program, but this one is specifically designed to support youth-led and youth-driven projects, whether they be in the arts, culture, sports or opportunities to be active citizens.
“By opening this program we’re hoping to be empower the young people of our Region.
“This program will provide funding and/or in-kind assistance to support youth/community organisations in their efforts to provide services, activities and events that are of benefit to the young people of our Region.”
Applications must be lodged by October 31, 2022.
Projects funded under the Youth grants program should demonstrate how they have involved young people at every stage of the project, from issues identification to design, delivery and review.
Organisations or groups applying for funding must have spoken with young people and involved them in the conceptual design of the project before submitting an application.
With Council’s move to SmartyGrants, the entire application process will occur online within one platform.
Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to contact Council as officers can give advice and assistance in the grant application process.
