Toowoomba Region’s Local Disaster Management Group remains on alert as at 1pm Friday 21 October as wet weather continues to impact the Region.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said Council’s Disaster Management team was closely monitoring the wet conditions and had made sand available at a number of locations.
“With the rain we’ve already had across the catchments and with the current forecast across the weekend, the LDMG is on alert and making sand available to residents at strategic locations.
“While there are no major flood warnings for our Region right now, we’re asking residents to be prepared across the weekend as conditions may worsen.
“As always, drive to conditions and if it’s flooded, forget it,” Mayor Antonio said.
For those properties not facing immediate inundation but wanting to be prepared, residents can purchase their own sandbags and bring their own shovel with sand piles available now at the following locations:
If your property is facing immediate threat of inundation, call the SES on 132 500.
